IVAN LUKSIC

A strong voice for Ward 10

ABOUT  IVAN

I’m a husband, father of two, community leader, and lifelong Stoney Creeker.

As a lawyer specializing in labour law, I’m used to fighting for what's right. My experience has given me a keen understanding of the complexities of municipal government and the importance of reducing bloated bureaucracy and making sure taxpayers get value for their money.

I’m running for Councillor because I believe Ward 10 needs someone who will stand up for our community and make sure we get our fair share, while also reigning in unnecessary spending. As your Councillor, I will demand greater accountability from City Hall.

I'm an active volunteer and member of several community groups, including Holy Cross Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Croatian National Home, and the Royal Canadian Legion, and was honoured to receive the King Charles III Coronation Medal for my service to Stoney Creek. These organizations have given me the opportunity to serve the community, build relationships, and better understand the issues that matter in Ward 10.

Along with my wife and our two young children, I'm proud to call Ward 10 home.

More Investment in Ward 10

Ward 10 is growing quickly, but our infrastructure and services need to keep pace. I’ll be a strong voice on Council for the investments our community needs and I’ll fight to make sure Ward 10 gets its fair share.

  • Build the Winona and Saltfleet Community Centres now. Our growing community shouldn’t have to wait years for recreation facilities and programs that other wards already enjoy.

  • Fix our roads and infrastructure. Prioritize extending Barton Street from Fruitland Road to Fifty Road, widening Fifty Road, and properly maintaining the roads, sewers and infrastructure we already have.

  • Fight for our fair share of funding. I’ll be a strong advocate with our provincial and federal representatives to bring the investments Ward 10 and Hamilton deserve.

A BETTER WARD 10

Accountability at City Hall:

Property taxes have risen nearly 23% in the last four years. Have your services improved by 23%? Mine haven’t. I’ll bring a stronger focus on accountability, responsible spending and results at City Hall.

  • Put an end to endless tax increases. Every tax increase should come with a clear explanation of what residents are getting in return.

  • Demand financial accountability. We need stronger oversight of City spending and real answers when programs and projects fail to deliver.

  • Follow the money. I’ll scrutinize new programs and major spending decisions to make sure we don’t repeat costly mistakes like the Tiny Shelters fiasco.

The headlines might say "crime is down"... but does it feel that way? Gun violence, auto theft, break-ins and home invasions are affecting communities across Hamilton. Ward 10 deserves to feel safe, and I’ll make public safety a priority.

  • Stand up for our police. I’ll be a strong supporter of the Hamilton Police Service and advocate for the resources officers need to keep our community safe.

  • Push for more bylaw enforcement. Our police shouldn’t be the only ones responding to issues that can be addressed through effective municipal enforcement. I’ll push the City to hire more bylaw officers.

  • Invest in safer public spaces. I’ll advocate for better lighting and other public safety infrastructure throughout Ward 10, especially in areas residents identify as needing attention.
